I remembered seeing a trailer for this a while back and being interested, but I wasn't sure how it'd feel to play. After actually playing it though, I'm much more excited for the full release.

The gameplay is very unique, as every enemy has their own specific order that you need to hit to build up to bonus damage on the final hit. So for example with this boss, hitting the 3 outer ring's eyes and working towards the middle eye (which is also indicated by the x's above the health bar). It creates a fun sort of mini-game for all of the enemies you encounter, while also giving the game a nice learning curve and more calculated approach to the combat. I've played a lot of games that have specific weak points of course, but this approach certainly feels unique.

Performance-wise I had no issues, which is a good sign for an early demo. There were a decent amount of different enemies you will encounter in the demo alone, some a little more awkward than others but I think it shows there'll hopefully be a good variety in the full game. The final clip of the video was part of the demo and not something I've experienced myself, it's a cutscene that appears after beating the boss to showcase the full game.

My only real critiques would have to be the reload animation feeling like it's too slow. I think it was done to balance the gameplay so it's a bit more methodical, but it's roughly 6 seconds for a full reload animation (and longer to actually fire again), so it feels like you're waiting around a bit too long. Maybe that's just due to it being early in the game and there'll be ways to improve it later, but for now it kind of stands out.

Other than that though, I enjoyed it a lot. I can't think of another game that had a similar feel to it overall, so I'm very much looking forward to the full release.

Thanks to the developers for providing me with early access to the demo to check it out!
