Il Comune di Roma prova a salvarlo, attraverso un'offerta alla proprietà dell'immobile, Investire Sgr, che però la rifiuta. Investire è una società di gestione del risparmio che fa capo alla famiglia Nattino, e tra i soci compare anche una holding riconducibile alla famiglia Benetton. Non è un caso isolato: a Roma altre società di questo tipo stanno avendo un ruolo sempre più centrale nella rigenerazione della città.
