How to Spot Damaged Aluminum Arrows | Indoor Archery Safety
Indoor season is here and that means a lot more archers are shooting aluminum arrows again. Aluminum arrows are great for indoors because they’re inexpensive, durable, easy to tune, and perfect for youth archers and club programs. But they’re also really easy to damage. A single side hit in the target or a bent shaft can ruin accuracy and even make the arrow unsafe to shoot. In this video I show you how to check your aluminum arrows for common damage like dents, bends, and impact marks from other arrows hitting them. This is especially important for youth archers and anyone using club equipment indoors where shafts end up smashed together inside the target.
I walk through several simple ways to inspect aluminum arrows so you know when they’re safe to shoot and when it’s time to throw them out. Damaged arrows won’t score well and can cause safety issues, so learning to check them properly is a key skill for every indoor archer.
If you’re new to indoor archery, shooting Easton aluminum arrows, or coaching kids who shoot aluminum shafts, this will help you spot problems early and avoid shooting unsafe equipment.
