Sugiono bertemu dengan Menteri Luar Negeri Rusia Sergey Lavrov.
Dalam pengarahan bersama setelah pertemuan tersebut, Lavrov mendesak upaya internasional untuk menenangkan situasi antara Israel dan Iran.
Rusia menilai konflik tersebut telah menimbulkan kerusakan yang cukup besar di kedua negara dan menimbulkan korban di kedua belah pihak.
"Kita mencatat kesamaan atau kedekatan posisi pada sebagian besar isu internasional terkini, termasuk yang paling mendesak saat ini. Maksud saya situasi di Timur Tengah, di wilayah Palestina dan, tentu saja, serangan Israel terhadap Republik Islam Iran, dan perlunya masyarakat dunia untuk melakukan segala upaya guna meredakan situasi," kata Sergey dalam pernyataannya dikutip dari Agency pool/AP.
Sugiono juga menyatakan Indonesia sepakat bahwa setiap eskalasi iran dan Israel perlu dihentikan.
"Kami sepakat bahwa setiap eskalasi perlu dihentikan dan setiap perselisihan perlu dibawa ke meja perundingan," kata Sugiono.
