Mitten in Gera beginnt für rund 100 junge Männer und Frauen eines der härtesten Kapitel ihres Lebens: die Grundausbildung bei der Bundeswehr. Das bedeutet: frühmorgens Alarm, wenig Schlaf, tagelang Training im Wald. Hier müssen sie zeigen, ob sie das Zeug zum Soldaten haben. Wir begleiten Jäger Lukas und Panzerpionier Christopher, die zwischen Schweiß, Zweifel und Kameradschaft über sich hinauswachsen. Beide wissen: Im Ernstfall könnten sie an die Front geschickt werden.Wie hart ist die Ausbildung wirklich? Was treibt junge Menschen an, diesen Weg zu gehen – trotz aller Gefahren? Wir bekommen einen exklusiven Einblick in den Alltag der Rekruten des Panzerpionier-Bataillons 701.
