Due tonnellate e mezzo di sigarette di contrabbando sequestrate dai Carabinieri della stazione di Casoria. È il bilancio di un maxi intervento che ha portato al rinvenimento di 1 milione e 850mila sigarette, pari a 92.500 pacchetti, per un peso complessivo di 2 tonnellate e 457 chili.
Un quantitativo enorme, paragonabile al peso di una barca di 9 metri, di un furgone carico o di circa 30 persone da 80 chili ciascuna. Il «conto», come spiegano i militari, è stato presto fatto.
Il sequestro è avvenuto quasi per caso. I Carabinieri sono intervenuti in via Enrico De Nicola per effettuare un sopralluogo a seguito di un tentato furto. Al posto di porte forzate o ladri in azione, i militari hanno scoperto un deposito adibito, secondo le prime ipotesi investigative, a vero e proprio snodo del traffico di tabacchi lavorati esteri.
All'interno erano stipati centinaia di pacchi di sigarette di contrabbando, sistemati su otto bancali, allineati e pronti per essere immessi sul mercato nero. Tutto il materiale è stato sottoposto a sequestro.
Sono in corso le indagini per risalire alla filiera di produzione e distribuzione delle sigarette illegali e per individuare i responsabili del traffico. Receive SMS online on sms24.me
