Militer Israel mengumumkan kematian empat warganya yang menjadi sandera di Gaza.
Demikian diungkap oleh Pasukan Pertahanan Israel (IDF) dalam sebuah pernyataannya pada Senin (3/6).
Juru Bicara IDF Laksamana Muda Daniel Hagari mengungkap identitas 4 sandera yang tewas.
Di antaranya Chaim Peri (79), Amiram Cooper (84), Yoram Metzger (80), dan Nadav Popplewell (51).
Pihak militer akan melakukan penyelidikan terkait penyebab kematian mereka.
Namun ia meyakini keempat warganya itu terbunuh saat pasukannya bentrok di Khan Younis Gaza.
Merespons kabar tersebut, Forum Keluarga Sandera mengaku sedih.
Forum tersebut mengatakan bahwa “Haim, Yoram, Amiram, dan Nadav diculik hidup-hidup.
Beberapa dari mereka bersama sandera lain yang kembali dalam kesepakatan sebelumnya.
Atas kabar kematian mereka, pemerintah Israel didesak untuk segera menerima kesepakatan gencatan senjata.
Keempat sandera sebelumnya terlihat hidup dalam video propaganda yang direkam selama mereka disandera di Gaza dan dirilis oleh Hamas.
Pada bulan Desember, Hamas menerbitkan video yang menunjukkan Peri, Cooper, dan Metzger masih hidup.
Pada bulan Maret Hamas mengklaim bahwa ketiganya terbunuh oleh serangan Israel.
Kemudian Hamas membagikan video Popplewell, yang tampaknya diterbitkan beberapa minggu setelah dia terbunuh.
