Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, the Russian president compared BRICS’ economic weight with that of the G7, arguing that the world is moving towards new engines of growth. Putin also described Western economies as the 'old leaders' of global growth, saying they are being replaced by new economic powers. But BRICS is not simply challenging the West. The bloc is pushing for greater influence for emerging economies, including reforms to institutions like the IMF and World Bank.
