Großbritannien bekommt heute einen neuen Premierminister. Andy Burnham wird von König Charles III. offiziell mit der Regierungsbildung beauftragt. Er übernimmt die Nachfolge von Sir Keir Starmer. Anschließend wird Burnham vor seinem neuen Amtssitz in der Downing Street erwartet. Der 56-jährige Labour-Politiker war zuletzt Bürgermeister von Greater Manchester. Nach Monaten der Regierungskrise soll er das Vereinigte Königreich wieder auf Kurs bringen. Zu seinen größten Herausforderungen zählen die schwächelnde Wirtschaft, hohe Lebenshaltungskosten und die wachsende soziale Ungleichheit.
