Ordentlich viel los rund um die Erde: Immer mehr Satelliten kreisen im Orbit. In den kommenden 15 Jahren könnte die Zahl nach Expertenschätzung von heute 5.000 auf knapp 60.000 steigen. Das bedeutet auch künftig mehr Raketenstarts und mehr Weltraumschrott – ausgediente Satelliten verglühen in der Erdatmosphäre. Uwe Gradwohl ist langjähriger Wissenschaftsjournalist aus der ARD Wissenschaftsredaktion.
