Sinopse:
Após uma longa carreira como agente da lei que o tornou uma lenda, Wyatt Earp (Burt Lancaster) decide se aposentar e se juntar a seus irmãos em Tombstone, Arizona. Lá, ele os veria envolvidos em uma rivalidade com os Clantons, um clã local de bandidos e ladrões de gado. Quando o confronto se torna inevitável, a ajuda virá de Doc Holliday (Kirk Douglas), um jogador terminalmente doente que por acaso é outra lenda do Velho Oeste.

Uma vitrine para Lancaster e Douglas
Basicamente, um veículo para mostrar os talentos de Burt Lancaster e Kirk Douglas, mas um veículo apropriado. Embora haja muitos personagens, este não é um elenco coletivo, com Burt e Kirk em destaque em praticamente todos os momentos do filme. Rhonda Fleming dá um toque especial em um papel maravilhoso, mas breve, como o interesse amoroso de Wyatt.

Mais um western clássico do que “My Darling Clementine”, um filme anterior sobre Wyatt e Doc no OK Corral, mas esta versão é mais episódica por natureza, embora igualmente fictícia. Não procure nuances nos personagens. Os vilões são maus, os mocinhos são bons, mas não perfeitos.
