In this video, I'll go through the big new update to the Claude Code desktop app, which is all about running many sessions at the same time. I'll show the new session screen with recent folders, saved environments and a worktree per folder, then the biggest change: nested sessions that run tasks in parallel and send their results back to your main session. After that, I'll cover follow-up suggestions you can start with one click, the /btw side tabs, the new sidebar status groups, and the live to-do list, recap card and side rail inside a session. Finally, I'll go through what people are saying in the replies, the usage-limit problem, the new idle compaction feature from Lydia Hallie, and my honest opinion on the whole update.

Key Takeaways:

🚀 The Claude Code desktop app update makes it easier to run many sessions at the same time.
📁 The new session screen shows your recent folders, so you can start a session with one click.
🧩 Environments let you save a setup, like a few folders, an SSH host or the cloud, with an optional worktree per folder.
🔀 Nested sessions run parallel tasks on their own and send their results back, so the main chat stays readable.
💡 Claude now suggests follow-up work while it works, and /btw opens side questions in their own tab.
👀 The sidebar sorts sessions into Needs input, Working and Completed, so one look tells you which ones need you.
✅ Inside a session, a live to-do list, a recap card and a side rail show the plan, the turn summary, the context and the changes.
⚠️ The replies are mixed: people want the effort slider back, and usage limits are the real barrier for parallel work.
🧠 Idle compaction summarizes long idle sessions right before the prompt cache expires, which saves some usage.
👍 Nested sessions and /btw tabs are the best parts, but the effort slider and the limits need fixing. Receive SMS online on sms24.me
