과거 24회의 9월 만기에서 만기일은 19회 상승해 상승 빈도가 79.2%였습니다. 9월 전체 역시 2003~2025년 기준 평균 +1.01%*, 중앙값 +1.49%, 상승 빈도 65.2%로 단순한 “9월 약세”와는 다른 모습을 보였습니다.

하지만 이것이 9월이 안전하다는 뜻은 아닙니다.

9월 만기 이후 월말까지 -5% 이하 하락은 24회 중 3회, 그때의 평균 손실은 -10.34%였습니다. 즉 진짜 위험은 매년 반복되는 약세가 아니라, 평소에는 잘 보이지 않다가 드물게 발생하는 큰 하방 꼬리위험이었습니다.

핵심은 “9월이 오른다, 내린다”를 맞히는 것이 아닙니다.

상승 확률이 높다는 것과 하방 꼬리위험이 작다는 것은 전혀 다른 문제입니다.
