KRIEG IN NAHOST: Netanjahu will Gaza Stadt! Israel treibt Pläne gegen Hamas weiter voran

Bei einer Großdemonstration in Israel haben nach Angaben der Organisatoren Hunderttausende Menschen ein Ende des Gaza-Krieges und die Freilassung der Geiseln gefordert. Die mehr als 350.000 Teilnehmer der Kundgebung in der Küstenmetropole Tel Aviv hätten eine klare Botschaft, hieß es am Abend: «Die Regierung (von Ministerpräsident Benjamin Netanjahu) muss das derzeit auf dem Tisch liegende Abkommen unterzeichnen. Die ganze Nation fordert ein Ende des Krieges und die Rückkehr aller Geiseln.»

Die islamistische Terrororganisation Hamas hatte vor gut einer Woche erklärt, sie habe einem neuen Vorschlag der Vermittlerstaaten Ägypten und Katar für eine Waffenruhe zugestimmt, der auch die Befreiung einiger der Geiseln vorsieht. Auf den Vorschlag ging Israels politische Führung bisher nicht ein. Auch bei einer erneuten Sitzung des israelischen Sicherheitskabinetts zwecks Billigung der militärischen Einsatzpläne zur Einnahme der Stadt Gaza war der Vorschlag für eine Waffenruhe laut israelischen Medien kein Thema.
