Bonino, che aveva 78 anni, era stata ricoverata in ospedale lo scorso 7 settembre. Nel 2015 aveva avuto un tumore ai polmoni da cui nel 2023 aveva detto di essere guarita. "Emma ci ha lasciati ma non ci lascerà mai. Oggi non ci lascia soltanto la nostra leader, ci lascia una delle protagoniste più lucide, coraggiose e libere della storia politica del nostro Paese e del mondo libero", è la nota del suo partito, Più Europa, per ricordarla.
