Supreme Court ruling triggers gerrymandering rush — what’s next? | DW News

The US Supreme Court has limited part of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a law meant to protect minority voters. In a 6–3 decision, the Court ruled that a congressional district in Louisiana was drawn mainly based on race, favoring one group over another. The ruling could allow Republican‑led states to redraw districts in ways that benefit their party in upcoming elections. Critics say the decision may make it harder for minority communities to be fairly represented in Congress.
