Diketahui gempa itu berkekuatan sangat dahsyat yakni mencapai 7,2 Skala Richter (SR).
Pusat gempa berada pada kedalaman 10 kilometer, tepatnya di barat daya Muko Muko.
Gempa ini dirasakan sangat kuat di Bengkulu dan sekitarnya yang memicu kepanikan warga.
Beruntung tidak ada korban jiwa dan kerusakan bangunan akibat bencana ini.
Diketahui gempa susulan juga terjadi lagi saat warga sedang beristirahat, dan sedikit warga yang merasakan.
Namun, seorang warga langsung sigap memantau pasang surutnya air laut, untuk mengetahui potensi tsunami.
Beruntung tidak terjadi tsunami dan warga bisa melakukan aktivitas seperti biasanya.
