Adrian Dantley Lakers Highlights vs. Pacers (21 Points & 11 Rebounds)

January 8, 1978 - Playing for his third team in four years, 23-year-old Adrian Dantley averaged 17.3 points per game for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1978-79. Dantley played two seasons in L.A. before being sent to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Spencer Haywood just prior to Magic Johnson's NBA debut.

In Utah, Dantley was unleashed, averaging 28.0 points per game in his first year with the team before going on to lead the league in scoring twice in a five year span.

After being traded to the Detroit in exchange for Kelly Tripucka in 1986, Dantley helped push the Pistons to the verge of an NBA championship before falling in a do-or-die seventh game to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1988 NBA Finals.

The following season, Dantley was once again on the move, this time to Dallas in exchange for Mark Aguirre. The Pistons went on to win back-to-back championships while Dantley eased into a post-prime existence that'd culminate with his retirement in 1991.

All told, Dantley finished with 23,177 career points, 31st all-time as of the 2022-23 NBA season.
