Indian stock market crash: Sensex and Nifty plunged as West Asia war fears, rising crude oil prices, higher US bond yields and renewed foreign investor selling battered Dalal Street. The Sensex fell 1,124 points, while the Nifty 50 dropped 360 points and closed below 23,000. The selloff wiped out ₹7.41 trillion in BSE market capitalisation. So, what is driving the market meltdown? Brent crude rose to $106.6 a barrel as uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz raised concerns about global oil supplies. Higher crude prices could increase India's import bill and add to inflationary pressures. At the same time, the US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.2%, increasing pressure on emerging markets such as India. Foreign portfolio investors have also returned to selling, offloading ₹17,131 crore in Indian equities in September.---
