Brucia dalla metà della mattina del 22 giugno l’area protetta della Palude del Conte, la riserva naturale situata tra Torre Colimena e Punta Prosciutto. La zona colpita dal fuoco si trova sulla costa jonica al confine tra Taranto e Lecce con un parco costituito da dune sabbiose e una vasta zona retrostante di macchia mediterranea, canneti e aree umide. Il fuoco ha preso vigore per l’alta temperatura e l’abbondante vegetazione secca, ma l’intervento tempestivo delle squadre dei vigili del fuoco e degli uomini della Protezione civile e dell’Arif Puglia ha impedito l’estendersi del fronte dell’incendio.
