Chris Pampel vom Deutschen Edelstein Kontor hat sich auf den Weg gemacht, um den Weg von Saphiren zu zeigen und daraus ist eine ganze Doku geworden. „Wir fahren regelmäßig nach Sri Lanka, um unsere Kontakte vor Ort direkt zu pflegen. Wir stellen die Qualität sicher und verfolgen die Wertschöpfungskette. Wir führen viele Gespräche mit Händlern. Dort wird auf sehr traditionelle Art und Weise zehn Meter unter der Erde nach Saphiren gesucht. Wir sind da in die Mine eingestiegen. Man kann sich gar nicht vorstellen, was da für eine Schwüle herrscht. Wir haben auch einen Partner besucht, der eine Wassermine betreibt. Man taucht dort zwölf Meter in die Tiefe. Ich bin da auch reingesprungen. Es ist braunes Wasser, man hat kaum Sicht. Ich hab dann selbst sogar einen Saphir gefunden und als Andenken mitgenommen. Und auch beim Schleifen und Polieren können wir jederzeit die Wertschöpfungskette nach den ESG-Richtlinien nachvollziehen", so Chris Pampel. Der Edelsteinexperte vom Deutschen Edelstein Kontor weiter: „Ganz wichtig sind die vier Cs. Carat (Gewicht), Clarity (Reinheit), Color (Farbe) und Cut (Schliff). Zu jedem Stein in Investmentqualität gehören zwei Dokumente: Ein Befundbericht von einem international anerkannten Prüflabor und separat ein Wertgutachten von einem vereidigten Sachverständigen."
