Soeharto menjadi Presiden Indonesia dengan masa jabatan terlama, yaitu 31 tahun.
Soeharto yang lahir dari pasangan Kertosudiro dan Sukirah, keluarga petani desa yang tidak memiliki sejengkal tanah sawah, namun tidak disangkanya bisa menjadi bapak Pembangunan dan Presiden RI.
Ayah Soeharto yang bernama Kertosudiro, adalah ulu-ulu, petugas desa pengatur air, yang bertani di atas tanah lungguh, tanah jabatan selama beliau memikul tugasnya itu.
Soeharto merupakan anak ketiga Kertosudiro dari pernikahan dengan Sukirah yang merupakan istri kedua.
Di rumah sederhana yang berada di pekarangan sang kakek Kertoirono, Presiden Soeharto dilahirkan.
Rumah sederhana berdinding anyaman bambu menjadi saksi lahirnya seorang pemimpin negara yang bahkan menjabat sebagai presiden Indonesia dengan periode terlama.
Kini tanah tempat lahirnya Soeharto telah dipugar menjadi sebuah museum bernama Memorial Jenderal Besar HM Soeharto.
Museum ini didirikan pada 2013 oleh Probosutedjo yaitu adik kandung Soeharto.
Berdiri di bekas rumah ibu Soeharto, kompleks ini terdiri dari pendapa joglo, memorabilia, serta petilasan Soeharto.
