Insiden tersebut terjadi di sebuah taman di kawasan Fontibon, ketika seorang pelaku bersenjata menembaknya dari arah belakang.
Uribe, yang juga merupakan senator berusia 39 tahun, langsung dilarikan ke rumah sakit dan masih menjalani perawatan intensif.
Foto-foto yang tersebar di media sosial menunjukkan dirinya mengalami luka di kepala dengan kondisi berlumuran darah, sedang ditolong oleh orang-orang di sekitarnya.
Belum ada pernyataan resmi mengenai kondisi terbaru dari Uribe.
Namun serangan ini langsung mengundang respons dari berbagai tokoh politik, termasuk Presiden Kolombia Gustavo Petro.
Melalui akun X Petro menyampaikan, "Hargai kehidupan, itu batasnya."
Ia pun membatalkan kunjungan ke Prancis sebagai respons atas seriusnya kejadian tersebut.
Partai Demokratik sayap kanan, tempat Uribe bernaung, menjelaskan bahwa saat insiden terjadi, ia didampingi oleh Anggota Dewan Andrés Barrios dan sekitar 20 orang lainnya.
Kolombia dijadwalkan menggelar pemilihan presiden pada 31 Mei 2026, di mana Miguel Uribe Turbay merupakan salah satu kandidat utama setelah mengumumkan pencalonannya pada Maret lalu.
