Sudan’s civil war has reached a volatile new flashpoint as the Sudanese army and regional officials again accuse Ethiopia of actively backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in southeast Sudan. Following the RSF's reported capture of the strategic border town of Kurmuk in Blue Nile State, the provincial governor alleged that the attacking forces launched their "invasion" from within Ethiopian territory. This follows previous claims by the Sudanese military regarding drone strikes originating from across the border. While Addis Ababa consistently denies involvement, the fallout is devastating for the local population.
