Der US-Präsident droht mit Zöllen und rückt Grönland in den Fokus. Sicherheitsexperte Nico Lange warnt: „Einen Handelskrieg mit Trump können wir nicht gewinnen.“ Europa müsse geschlossen auftreten, statt sich auf rhetorische Eskalation einzulassen.
China zeigte, wie Gegenwehr funktioniert. Peking nutzte die US-Abhängigkeit von Rohstoffen und zwang Trump zum Rückzug. Europa fehlt diese direkte Abhängigkeit. Doch die EU kann es Trump teuer machen. Entscheidend sei die Einigkeit zwischen Dänemark, Grönland und den europäischen Partnern. „Dänemark darf nicht allein gelassen werden“, betont Lange.
Trump sucht die Konfrontation. Er spüre europäische Schwäche und trete nach. Die Grönland-Forderungen seien in den USA selbst unpopulär. Lange empfiehlt, Verbündete im Kongress zu suchen. US-Verbraucher zahlen die Zölle selbst. Viele Bundesstaaten und Industrien lehnen die Politik ab.
Das Abkommen zwischen Dänemark und den USA stammt von 1951. Eine Neuverhandlung könnte allen Seiten nutzen. Lange sieht trotz scharfer Rhetorik von Stephen Miller keine Anzeichen für militärische Aktionen. Trump könne seine Position ändern. Europa müsse mit Ruhe und Zusammenhalt reagieren.
