En tren hasta la bahía de Hudson | DW Documental
Si quieres viajar por tierra de Winnipeg a Churchill, debes tomar el tren. Una sola vía conduce a través de la tundra canadiense hasta la bahía de Hudson. Es un viaje para relajarse, descansar y contemplar una naturaleza fascinantemente salvaje.El viaje en tren comienza en Winnipeg, la capital multicultural de la provincia canadiense de Manitoba, formada por su población indígena y por inmigrantes de todo el mundo. En cuanto el tren abandona la ciudad, se puede ver la inmensa pradera. Ahora crecen cereales donde antes pastaban bisontes. Los bosques pantanosos de coníferas siguen más al norte. Aquí viven las comunidades de las Primeras Naciones, que sólo pueden llegar a sus reservas en tren. Compraron y renovaron partes de la línea cuando las vías quedaron arrasadas en 2017 y se interrumpieron las operaciones ferroviarias. Por último, pero no menos importante, aparece la tundra ártica sin árboles. Tras 1.700 kilómetros y 45 horas de viaje en tren, se llega a la terminal en la pequeña ciudad de Churchill, con unos 900 habitantes. En otoño, cuando las aguas empiezan a congelarse, los osos polares se reúnen ahí y la aurora boreal brilla en la noche.
