The Code Restriction That Killed Our Two Room Studio Design

Find out if your space can actually be soundproofed. Take the free Soundproof Site Assessment at https://www.soundproofyourstudio.com/plan

This project started with a clear vision. A homeowner wanted a professional recording studio inside a backyard ADU. The architect was hired. We were brought in to design the sound isolation system.
What followed was three design phases, a client coordinating two firms simultaneously, and one code restriction that made the two-room layout mathematically impossible.
Not an acoustic problem. Not a structural problem. A stormwater runoff calculation that was 72.5 square feet short of what the code required.
This is that story, told through the actual plan sets.
