LIVE: Ahmedabad Air India Plane Crash Kills At Least 179, PM Modi Takes Stock | Spotlight | N18GAn Air India Boeing 787 passenger plane en route to London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, killing at least 179 people. The plane, carrying 242 individuals, including 169 Indians and 53 British nationals, issued a Mayday call before losing contact. It crashed into a doctors' hostel, causing additional casualties on the ground. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and both Indian and UK governments are responding to the tragedy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the "tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened" the nation. "In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected," PM Modi wrote on social media.
