Al via oggi gli esami di maturità per 526.317 studenti, 512.530 interni e 13.787 esterni, che verranno esaminati da 14.072 commissioni, per un totale di 28.038 classi. Dai licei arriva il maggior numero di candidati, sono 266.057, seguono quelli degli istituti tecnici, 172.504; infine ci sono 87.756 studenti degli istituti professionali. Si parte stamattina alle ore 8.30 con la prima prova, uguale per tutti. La prima prova accerta sia la padronanza della lingua italiana (o della diversa lingua nella quale avviene l'insegnamento) sia le capacità espressive, logico-linguistiche e critiche degli studenti. I candidati possono scegliere tra tipologie e tematiche diverse: il Ministero mette a disposizione per tutti gli indirizzi di studio sette tracce che fanno riferimento agli ambiti artistico, letterario, storico, filosofico, scientifico, tecnologico, economico, sociale.
