Ahora, se enfrentan a una presión sin precedentes bajo el gobierno del presidente Daniel Noboa —un títere de Estados Unidos—, quien ha abierto las tierras de su país para satisfacer el insaciable afán estadounidense por el cobre y los minerales de tierras raras.
Este es el más reciente de una serie de reportajes —que se extiende ya por varios años— realizados por Leon sobre la lucha de los shuar por la supervivencia frente a la sobreexplotación y la corrupción política, frente a la presión de la "maquina" industrial y del mercado.
