China ha publicado un documento de trabajo advirtiendo sobre la creciente retórica nuclear de Japón. A finales de 2025, la primera ministra japonesa Sanae Takaichi se negó a confirmar que los tres principios no nucleares del país permanecerían sin cambios. Un alto funcionario japonés posteriormente pidió que Tokio adquiriera armas nucleares. China ha enfatizado que esto viola las obligaciones de Tokio bajo el Tratado de No Proliferación e insta a los Estados miembros del tratado a abordar el impulso nuclear de Japón como un asunto importante.
