＜イントロダクション＞
山奥の集落に、立ち入りを固く禁じられてきた“忌み地”がある。
怪しげな様相の祠が佇むその場所は、踏み入れば祟られ、命を落とすことすらあるという。
その山を代々管理する三十木谷家に生まれた日向と薫。
ある嵐の夜、禁忌の地に踏み入った二人は、
巨大な蛇体を持つ祟り神・屋跨斑（ヤマタギマダラ）に遭遇してしまう———。
……のだが、二人は怪異を恐れるどころか
「ダラさん」と親しげに呼び、あっさり懐いてしまった！
