Warga Antusias Saksikan Drama Kolosal Perobekan Bendera Belanda di Hotel Majapahit Surabaya
SURABAYA, KOMPAS.TV - Pemkot Surabaya mengadakan drama kolosal perobekan bendera penjajah Belanda di atas Hotel Majapahit yang dulunya bernama Hotel Yamato.Detik-detik pusat Kota Surabaya mencekam sangat terasa dikala bendera penjajah Belanda kembali dikibarkan di Hotel Yamato di Jalan Tunjungan, Surabaya, pada 19 September 1945, belum genap sebulan usai proklamasi kemerdekaan dikumandangkan oleh Presiden Soekarno pada bulan Agustus.
Suasana ini digambarkan cukup jelas dalam pertunjukan drama kolosal yang digelar Pemkot Surabaya dan sejumlah seniman di sekitaran Hotel Majapahit yang dulunya merupakan Hotel Yamato.
Wali Kota Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi berperan sebagai Residen Soedirman yang memimpin Kota Surabaya kala itu dan menyampaikan amanat presiden untuk serentak mengibarkan bendera merah putih.
Namun sejumlah meneer Belanda di Hotel Yamato justru mengibarkan bendera Belanda yang menjadi pemicu awal perlawanan arek Suroboyo di medan perang.
Kala itu, seluruh pemuda di Surabaya berkumpul di Jalan Tunjungan untuk menurunkan bendera tersebut.
Mereka bergotong royong memanjat bangunan dengan alat seadanya. Setelah berhasil, arek Suroboyo ini merobek bagian bawah bendera agar menjadi merah putih.
Namun perjuangan mereka mendapat perlawanan dari tentara Belanda yang menembaki dari bawah hingga menyebabkan banyak korban.
Eri berharap agar generasi muda di Kota Surabaya tidak melupakan sejarah perjuangan para pahlawan kemerdekaan.
Ia juga berharap semangat pahlawan dan gotong royong terus berkobar di Kota Surabaya.
Drama kolosal ini menyedot antusias ribuan warga Kota Surabaya yang menyaksikan di sepanjang Jalan Tunjungan.
