Al-Qassam and ICRC continue search for last Israeli captive’s body in Gaza
Local media in Israel report the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt will remain closed.Reopening was tied to the recovery of the last Israeli captive held in Gaza.
The closure affects the first phase of the ceasefire, active since October.
Al-Qassam brigades and the ICRC have coordinated a search near al-Zeitoun neighbourhood.
The operation follows humanitarian and verification mechanisms in the ceasefire deal.
Finding and returning the captive’s body is politically sensitive but doesn’t trigger phase two.
Further negotiations on sustained ceasefire, withdrawals, and Gaza’s future remain unresolved.
