Martedì 9 dicembre, durante la cerimonia d'inaugurazione dell'87° anno accademico dell'Università LUMSA, il prof. Piero Polidoro, ordinario di Filosofia e Teoria dei linguaggi all’Università LUMSA, ha tenuto la prolusione “Thinking outside the Black Box, ovvero: come ho imparato a non preoccuparmi e ad amare l’AI” con la quale ha spiegato perché non si dovrebbe avere paura dell’Intelligenza Artificiale: «Innanzitutto, perché non ci conviene: come ha efficacemente scritto Ethan Mollick, il genio è uscito dalla lampada, e non ci tornerà. Ma, soprattutto, perché l’AI, di per sé, non mette in dubbio il nostro essere umani e non compete con noi. Semmai, è uno strumento che ci potenzia, forse come nessuna altra tecnologia ha fatto nella storia. Certo, dovremo ripensare il nostro agire nel mondo, riposizionarci, comprendere quale ruolo assumere ora che abbiamo, finalmente, un’AI capace di avere un impatto pervasivo e sostanziale sulla nostra esistenza. Conoscerla meglio, anche in modo critico, ci aiuta a capirne le possibilità e, sicuramente, anche i rischi, che però non dipendono tanto dall’AI in sé (l’AI non è la bomba atomica), ma dal modo in cui la useremo. Nel dibattito pubblico, sinceramente, mi piacerebbe sentire meno allarmismo (e meno approssimazione) e più riflessioni su come potremmo usare l’AI per migliorare le nostre vite, le nostre comunità, il modo in cui lavoriamo, su come contribuire al bene comune».
