Kamçatka’dan önceki 9,5 büyüklüğündeki 1960 Şili -ki bu kayda geçmiş en büyük deprem, 4 yıl sonraki 9,2 büyüklüğündeki Alaska depremi, 2004’teki 9,1 büyüklüğündeki Endonezya depremi, 2011’de nükleer bir felakete yol açan tarihin en yıkıcı depremlerinden Japonya depremi ve 1952’deki Kamçatka depremi..
