Non ha fatto in tempo a uscire dalla #Commissione #Covid che lo hanno già chiamato "pediatra anti-lockdown" per aver mostrato dati e studi che smentiscono l'efficacia delle scuole chiuse in pandemia. Il dott. Eugenio Serravalle, pediatra presidente dell’Associazione studi e informazione sulla salute (AsSIS), è stato ascoltato nella commissione d'inchiesta voluta dal governo per investigare su eventuali errori nella gestione dell'emergenza pandemica. Da anni interessato alla salute dei bambini, Serravalle ha parlato dell'effetto dei #lockdown delle scuole in Italia, tra i primi Paesi al mondo per giorni di chiusura: 341 contro i 138 giorni di media europea, secondo l'OMS. Paesi invece come Svezia e Finlandia hanno lasciato le scuole aperte, come nel primo caso, o chiuse per soli 2 giorni, nel secondo. Tuttavia, l'Italia è stata comunque una delle nazioni più colpite dal virus.

"I bambini, se contagiati dalla SARS-CoV-2, - spiega il dott. Serravalle mentre illustra i dati - erano in genere asintomatici o presentavano sintomi lievi. Il ruolo dei bambini nella trasmissione del SARS-CoV-2 è stato limitato. Il confinamento domestico e la chiusura prolungata delle scuole hanno avuto conseguenze negative, gravi e di lunga durata, sia sulla salute fisica che sulla salute psicologica dei bambini. Il rischio di infezione nei contesti educativi tra bambini è stato più basso rispetto a quello nelle comunità in cui essi vivono. La chiusura prolungata delle scuole avrebbe causato più decessi complessivi rispetto ad altre misure di contenimento della #pandemia".
