Merz und die CDU: Warum hat seine Partei in der Bevölkerung an Vertrauen verloren?

Der Bundeskanzler und CDU-Chef kämpft nach dem erneuten Wahldebakel um sein Amt. Die SPD setzt sich vom Reformkurs ab. Merz will daran festhalten und hofft auf Unterstützung. Doch wieviel Rückenwind hat Merz nicht nur in der Koalition, sondern auch in den eigenen Reihen?

Politikwissenschaftlerin Andrea Römmele ist diesbezüglich skeptisch: „Friedrich Merz fehlt letztendlich auch der Rückhalt seiner Partei. Er hat dreimal den Versuch unternommen, Parteivorsitzender zu werden und es hat erst beim dritten Mal geklappt jetzt nicht mit einer überwältigenden Mehrheit. Also insofern ist es nicht nur der Konditionspartner, sondern auch die eigene Partei, die ihm nicht so den Rücken stärkt.“

Römmele sieht darüber hinaus auch ein größeres Problem: „Merz ist, was die Themen anbelangt und vor allem auch, was die großen Visionen anbelangt, an der Oberfläche geblieben. Und im Prinzip braucht er die Koalition, aber vor allem braucht die Bevölkerung eine Antwort auf die Frage: Wie soll Deutschland 2040, 2045 eigentlich aussehen? In welchem Land wollen wir leben?“
