Robespierre, el fundador del Terrorismo de Estado
Imagínate que estás en París, en el verano de 1794, y te detienen acusado de ser enemigo del pueblo. Cuando te llevan ante el Tribunal Revolucionario, lo primero que pides es un abogado que te ayude a defenderte, pero resulta que la ley te niega ese derecho. Así que tendrás que enfrentarte a la acusación sin esa ayuda. Bueno, pensarás, al menos podrán declarar los testigos que conocen lo que ha pasado y pueden aclararlo. Pues tampoco tienes esa garantía, porque el tribunal puede decidir que no necesita escucharlos para dictar sentencia. Y fíjate en lo que te estás jugando en ese juicio, porque, si te consideran culpable, no cabe que te impongan unos años de cárcel o cualquier otra pena menor. No. Las únicas salidas posibles son que te absuelvan... o que te condenen a muerte. Y lo más probable es que ocurra lo segundo, porque si te privan de abogado y no puedes disponer de testigos, lo que te van a aplicar es un juicio sumario con el objetivo de matarte y deshacerse rápido de ti.Esta escena terrorífica sucede en eñ año 1794, en París, Francia,... en la nación que acaba de proclamar los derechos del hombre. Y no es un caso aislado. Sucede a diario.
Ahora viene lo inquietante. Uno de los principales defensores de este sistema abyecto y criminal resulta que unos años antes había pedido abolir la pena de muerte. Estoy hablando de un tipo que se llamaba Maximilien Robespierre. ¿Te suena, no? Me voy a centrar en Robespierre en este vídeo.
