FALL MADDIE MCCANN: Verdächtiger Deutsche kommt auf freien Fuß!

Nach der Verbüßung einer mehrjährigen Gefängnisstrafe steht die Entlassung des deutschen Verdächtigen im Fall des 2007 in Portugal verschwundenen britischen Mädchens Madeleine "Maddie" McCann an. Laut Staatsanwaltschaft Braunschweig gilt der Mittwoch als Stichtag, eine Entlassung an einem anderen Tag gilt allgemein aber als möglich. Offizielle Angaben dazu gibt es unter Verweis auf den Daten- und Persönlichkeitsschutz nicht. Einzelheiten der Entlassung sind daher unklar.

Der Beschuldigte Christian B. wurde 2019 wegen einer Vergewaltigung in Portugal vom Landgericht Braunschweig zu einer Haftstrafe verurteilt, die er seither in Niedersachsen verbüßte. Im vergangenen Jahr sprach das Gericht ihn in einem weiteren Prozess um mutmaßliche Vergewaltigungen in Portugal frei. Mit dem Fall Maddie hatte keines dieser Verfahren zu tun. Die Staatsanwaltschaft Braunschweig stuft B. allerdings als Verdächtigen in dem Tatkomplex ein.
