Además, decenas de miles de personas han abandonado la zona.
“Lo que está sucediendo es nada menos que una […] campaña de destrucción y aniquilación”, dice Mathilde Vu, coordinadora del área de incidencia sobre Sudán en el Consejo Noruego para los Refugiados, quien se comunica con Democracy Now! desde Kenia.
Lo que está aconteciendo en El Fasher es “la suma de todos nuestros temores”, añade Nathaniel Raymond, director ejecutivo del Laboratorio de Investigación Humanitaria de la Escuela de Salud Pública de Yale. Raymond insta a Estados Unidos a ejercer presión sobre Emiratos Árabes Unidos, país que viene respaldando a las FAR en la guerra civil a pesar de que el grupo ha cometido “actos que se pueden equiparar con un genocidio”.
