Dans les années 1930, sous le mandat britannique, Bné Brak est encore une petite ville.Rabbi Tsvi Itzkovitch, converti au judaïsme, s’y installe avec son épouse.
Le couple possède une modeste maison et une étable, mais n’a pas d’enfants.
Tous deux souhaitent donner du mérite à la communauté et encourager les Mitsvot.
La circulation devant leur maison pendant Chabbath leur cause une grande peine.
Rabbi Tsvi demande au ‘Hazon Ich comment agir pour préserver l’honneur du Chabbath.
Le Sage lui conseille de créer une synagogue dans sa propriété.
Selon le récit, les Britanniques limitent la circulation près des synagogues pendant les offices.
Pour couvrir tout le Chabbath, le ‘Hazon Ich propose d’y multiplier les prières.
Le couple décide alors de transformer sa propre maison en synagogue...
