Forgotten Stone Villages of the Swiss Alps
Old stone villages tucked into the mountains, an emerald river, and the Alps all around you. That’s the kind of walk this is.We start at the Ponte dei Salti, the famous “Jump Bridge” in Ticino, and follow the trail through the Verzasca Valley. Along the way we pass sleepy villages with centuries-old stone houses, narrow paths between mossy walls, and some of the most beautiful Alpine scenery I’ve ever walked through.
I did it at the end of May in light rain, and honestly I wouldn’t change a thing. The water glows green against the grey sky, the old stones look even older when they’re wet, and all you hear is the river and the drizzle. No music, no talking, just the walk.
📍 Ponte dei Salti → Sabbione, Ticino, Switzerland
🌧 End of May, light rain, 18°C / 64°F
📺 Watch it on the biggest screen you have. The stone houses, the mountains and the sound of the water really come alive on a TV or a monitor.
❗ Turn on the subtitles (CC) in your language. They tell you the story of the places we walk through.
