Die Finanzwelt steht vor einem gewaltigen Umbruch. Digitale Währungen, sogenannte Stablecoins, könnten künftig den internationalen Zahlungsverkehr und sogar die Machtverhältnisse zwischen den USA und Europa verändern. „Stablecoins sind virtuelle Zahlungsmittel, die auf der Blockchain funktionieren. Mit dem Unterschied: Sie haben eine Sicherheit. Damit kann man den Zahlungsverkehr revolutionieren. Warum sollte man dann noch herkömmliche Zahlungssysteme von Banken nutzen?", so Robert Halver. Der Kapitalmarktexperte von der Baader Bank weiter: „Wenn der Zahlungsverkehr sehr stark über den US-Dollar funktioniert, dann verlieren wir auch Einfluss als Währung. Da müssen wir mithalten. Wir sind immer zu langsam und fragen, ob die Sicherheit gewährleistet ist. Wir fangen immer mit der Empörung an, die Chancen stehen wir aber nicht. Ab und zu muss man sich aber auch in den Hintern treten. Wir sind einsehbar wie die eingeweckten Birnen im Glas."
