La filosofía como antídoto para el dolor | Jennifer Rodríguez Pacheco | TEDxLas Hayas College Youth

The talk reflects on how intimate and profound experiences—those that shake us emotionally—prompt us to find new meaning in life. These are pivotal moments that force us to reconsider the course and very meaning of existence. In this process, philosophy emerges not as abstract knowledge, but as a vital tool. In particular, Stoicism is presented as a practical guide, comparable to a compass that orients us amidst uncertainty and pain. Starting from the suffering caused by loss and the encounter with death firsthand, it is proposed that pain can become a starting point for the search for meaning. Thus, philosophy functions as an antidote to existential emptiness, offering inner strength and a new way of understanding adversity. It does not eliminate pain, but it transforms the way we experience and interpret it. Born on August 18, 2000, Jennifer grew up in the city of Agua Dulce, Veracruz. Later, at eighteen, she moved to Xalapa to pursue a degree in Philosophy at the Universidad Veracruzana, graduating with honors at twenty-one. After completing her academic studies, she found in teaching a space to practice philosophy. Currently, at twenty-five, she works as a Humanities teacher at Colegio Las Hayas.

Passionate about literature, Jennifer sees writing as a means to reflect, share experiences, and explore ideas. A self-described polymath, she has cultivated diverse interests, including drawing and painting, learning languages such as English and German, and a lifelong affinity for sports. She views life as a continuous exploration, guided by curiosity, lifelong learning, a love of knowledge, and the search for meaning. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
