An Issen is when you attack at the exact time an enemy would attack, and it does the special animation with a powerful attack (for example, the attack I do at 00:10 for the overhead slam attack is an Issen). There's a counter that appears on the left each time you do an Issen.
As for this fight, it was very enjoyable. A definite step up from the other bosses obviously, although not an insane challenge either. But I do think people saying everything is going to be too easy won't be too worried after this. The combat still feels amazing too across each of the bosses, so I'm really looking forward to the full release.
