Eine Nachricht aus der Wirtschaft sorgt für Wirbel. Der zweitgrößte Stahlkonzern der Welt, ArcelorMittal, will seine Pläne für grünen Stahl zum Teil stoppen. Deutschland ist direkt betroffen. In den Werken in Bremen und Eisenhüttenstadt soll die Produktion nun doch nicht umgestellt werden. Das Unternehmen schlägt damit auch einen Milliardenbetrag an Fördergeldern in den Wind. Die Begründung: Grüner Stahl lohne sich nicht, auch wegen zu hoher Strompreise in Deutschland. Stimmt das? Klimaökonomin Claudia Kemfert erklärt, wie Stahl in Deutschland hergestellt wird und wie die Chancen für die Produktion von grünem Stahl stehen. Die Begründungen von ArcelorMittal für dem Projektstopp kann sie nicht nachvollziehen.Außerdem geht es um Bundeswirtschaftsministerin Katharina Reiche (CDU). Sie stellt die deutschen Klimaziele infrage. Deutschland müsse nicht bis 2045 klimaneutral sein, wie derzeit geplant. 2050 reiche auch, entsprechend den Vorgaben der EU. Claudia Kemfert hält den Vorschlag nicht für sinnvoll. Sie hat mehrere Gründe dafür, unter anderem befürchtet sie wirtschaftliche Schäden für Deutschland und negative Auswirkungen aufs Klima. Kritisch sieht Kemfert auch die Pläne, die Stromsteuern nicht flächendeckend zu senken, sondern vor allem für große Unternehmen.
