Droht am Golf ein Flächenbrand? Saudi-Arabien, Türkei und Pakistan haben ein neues Verteidigungsbündnis geschmiedet – das sogenannte Mekka-Bündnis. Jetzt gab es offenbar den ersten Test: Die mit dem Iran verbündeten Huthi-Rebellen wollen saudische Schiffe im Roten Meer angegriffen haben.

Saudi-Arabien bestätigte den Vorfall bisher nicht. Warum? Und wie belastbar ist das neue Bündnis im Ernstfall?
