Stefano Tiozzo, documentarista e fotoreporter che vive e lavora tra Mosca e l'Italia, offre una prospettiva rara: quella di chi ha visto cambiare il carrello della spesa, i prezzi alla pompa e le vetture per strada, anno dopo anno, dall'interno.
La prima risposta della Russia alle sanzioni è arrivata dalla banca centrale, guidata da Elvira Nabiullina, con una decisione radicale: portare i tassi di interesse al 20%. «Noi diciamo i tassi al 3,5-4 per cento, ci sembra tanto», osserva Tiozzo, «loro bam, 20%». Una misura che, come ha riconosciuto anche Christine Lagarde in veste di direttrice della BCE, ha permesso alla Russia di sopravvivere all'urto iniziale delle sanzioni. Il meccanismo è semplice: con tassi così alti, chi ha liquidità la tiene in banca dove «si moltiplica semplicemente stando ferma», e il rublo non collassa. Il prezzo, però, lo paga chi ha bisogno di credito per investire o aprire un'attività: «è una dinamica che distrugge essenzialmente la piccola economia».
A questo si aggiunge un'inflazione in doppia cifra su base annua, che Tiozzo dice di percepire in prima persona: «lo vedo nel mio carrello della spesa, che è particolarmente modificato, cambiato in peggio». Gli stipendi sono aumentati — il salario medio a Mosca è passato da circa 60.000 rubli nel 2022 a 120-130.000 oggi — ma non abbastanza da tenere il passo con i prezzi. Il risultato è quella «classica dinamica che vediamo anche da noi: chi ha soldi ne fa di più, chi ne ha pochi ne ha sempre meno».
