Pendaratan darurat dilakukan setelah ada ancaman bom di dalam pesawat tersebut.
Pesawat Air India AI379 sempat mengitari Laut Andaman saat protokol darurat diaktifkan.
Pesawat itu kembali dengan selamat ke Phuket, tempat otoritas Thailand melakukan pemeriksaan menyeluruh.
Bandara Internasional Phuket di Thailand mengatakan Air India AI379 rute Thailand-India itu membawa 156 penumpang di dalamnya.
Seluruh penumpang telah berhasil dievakuasi sesuai dengan prosedur darurat.
Penerbangan terpaksa kembali setelah 30 detik lepas landas.
Pasalnya mendapat ancaman bom yang ditemukan di dinding kamar mandi.
Namun demikian pihak berwenang tidak menemukan bahan peledak atau barang mencurigakan di dalam pesawat Air India tersebut setelah pemeriksaan awal.
Petugas bandara Thailand kemudian mengonfirmasi tidak ditemukannya bom di dalam pesawat.
Hingga saat ini pihak Air India belum memberikan keterangan terkait motif maupun identitas tersangka atas ancaman bom tersebut.
Adapun insiden ini terjadi hanya beberapa jam setelah pesawat Air India AI171 rute Ahmedabad-London jatuh dan meledak beberapa saat setelah lepas landas.
Pasa Kamis (12/6) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner milik Air India itu jatuh di sekitar bandara Ahmedabad.
Tiga puluh detik setelah lepas landas, pesawat itu menabrak asrama perguruan tinggi kedokteran di dekatnya.
Kecelakaan itu menewaskan lebih dari 240 orang, termasuk penumpang, awak pesawat, dan orang-orang di darat.
Pesawat itu membawa 242 orang: 217 orang dewasa, 11 anak-anak, 2 bayi, dan 12 awak pesawat.
Kebangsaan korban termasuk 169 warga India, 53 warga Inggris, 7 warga Portugis, dan 1 warga Kanada.
Itu adalah kecelakaan fatal pertama yang melibatkan Boeing 787 Dreamliner sejak debut komersialnya pada tahun 2011.
Hanya satu korban selamat yang telah teridentifikasiāRamesh Viswashkumar, yang duduk di 11A dekat pintu darurat.
